The Count of Monte Cristo – a Readalong

It is my mission in life to make Andi read all the good things. Andi has not read any Alexandre Dumas. I KNOW. Believe me. *sigh* Anyway, after Chris’s latest Reading it Old School, I talked her into picking a Dumas to read. And she picked The Count of Monte Cristo.

Score!

So now, I bring it to you. Do you want to join us? If so, fill out the Linkster and get started! We’ll be reading until December 18th. We’re doing it all loosy goosy. It’s over 1,000 pages (should I have said that?) so we wanted to give plenty of time. The Count is one of my favorite books by Dumas, so I’m excited! So come on, join in. The more the merrier!

  2. This is so tempting. I just got a copy of this for my birthday yesterday. Hmm…still on the fence because I’ve already committed to reading Bleak House and that sucker is long too. I’ll mostly be doing audio for Bleak House so I may just come back and join. Good luck to all who do. I’m excited to read it, whenever I get around to it.

  3. This is one of my favorite books of all time. This is one of those books anytime I see it out and it has a different cover I am like well I don’t have it in that cover so sure I could use another copy :)

Of course I don’t have a blog but I might follow y’all along secret mommy ninja style!!!!

  4. Hmm…..I’m going back and forth on this one….leaning towards doing it…..what does it entail? Are we reading a certain amount each week together or we just need to have it done by the 18th to discuss it?

  5. Signing up! I can’t wait! The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my all-time favorite books. You probably know that, already, Andiloo. Anyway, I’ve been looking for an excuse to read along with others and I’m always up for a reread of The Count. Perfect!

  7. Oh! I wish! I already have to read Bleak House and The Casual Vacancy in November. I don’t think I can pile on this book, too. Although… this would be a free ebook, yes? so maybe, maybe…

  8. I’m in! I am trying to find a free copy of the book (because I know I have it, but it happens to be at my house back home while I’m doing some traveling with my hubby for a while) but it’s only $0.99 on the Kindle, so I’m reading it with you anyway!

  9. I haven’t had a chance to pop over to Fizzy Jill’s blog since I returned into town but since she said she’d do Bleak House with me I’m thinking that she’s certifiably insane. Maybe she’s been reading too many psychos?!

Would SO love to do this but…ya…Bleak House.

  11. I just finished this one earlier this year, so I won’t be joining you …. BUT, this book is soooooo good!! I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did!!!

  12. CRIES. I had a moment of weakness on twitter but I will be strong. I can’t.

Ok, maybe if I can convince Scott to listen with me then I’ll do it.

Nope, audio is 47 hours long.

    This seriously hurts my heart.

  13. I really, really want to do this. But I seriously can’t. I’m just hoping to finish the book I’m currently reading and one sub-300 page book by then, to fulfill most of my commitments. I might get to sneak another one in there if I’m fast, but it will have to be short, not 1000+ pages. Even though I really want to read this and a readalong would be awesome.

  14. HOW DID I MISS THIS? I’m late, but I’m IN. Are we posting updates on a schedule of any sort? I need deadlines so I can wave at them when they blow by. ::frantically downloads her audiobook::

Andi, this book is amazing. You willl ove it (or else, revenge!). And as an after-reading reward, there’s the movie with James Caviezielseil aka Jesus and Guy Pearce! /swoon
